What is the relationship between Legal & Contingency Limited and Ci Self-issue insurance?

Ci Self-issue Insurance is a brand of Legal & Contingency Limited offering a wide range of legal indemnity solutions for both residential and commercial properties. Ci Self-issue Insurance is supported by a team of experienced underwriters to provide quick quotes for matters falling just outside the self-issue criteria. Legal & Contingency Limited has a dedicated Bespoke team of underwriters for solutions that cannot be covered by self-issue.

Will existing quotes be honoured?

All issued CRM quotes will be honoured for the entirety of their validation period. The expiry dates of quotes are shown clearly on the quote document. They can be purchased by retrieving them via the CRM insurance online portal as usual. If a quote has expired, or if significant changes are required, a new quote will need to be generated from the Ci Self-issue Insurance online portal.

Is it possible to still increase the limit of indemnity on existing CRM policies?

CRM insurance will continue to provide all the required support for all existing CRM insurance policies. Quotes to increase the Limit of Indemnity can still be requested by emailing enquiries@crminsurance.co.uk. Claims, complaints, requests for policy copies or any other queries can also be sent to this email address, or call us on +44 (0) 20 7256 3847.

Is it possible to keep existing CRM login details for the Ci self-issue website?

When you log into the CRM insurance online portal, you will be given the option to

  1. Redirect to the Ci Self-issue website, or
  2. Continue to CRM insurance

If you choose to redirect to the Ci self-issue website, a new Ci account will be created for you using your existing CRM log-in details. If you have used this option before, it will log you into your existing Ci self-issue account.
A new Ci account can also be created by registering directly on the Ci website or by contacting the CRM team.

How does obtaining new quotes work?

All new quotes required after 30th September 2022 will be issued by Ci Self-issue Insurance. These can be generated directly from the Ci online portal, by selecting “new quote” on the tab above if you are logged in.
Login details to the Ci site can be obtained if you don’t already have them by registering here, or by selecting "proceed to Ci Self-issue" after logging in to your CRM account.

Is it possible to use an existing Ci Self-issue Insurance online account?

If you already have a Ci Self-issue Insurance account you should use that for new quotes.

How will this benefit CRM insurance clients?

You will now have access to a wider range of legal indemnity options than before. This includes commercial options for many of the policies, Forfeiture of Lease (Housing Act 1988), Freehold Rent Charge, Manorial Rights and Mineral Rights.

You will benefit from a much larger underwriting team at Legal & Contingency which means more expertise and quick turnarounds for any risk that does not match the self-issue criteria.

How to continue using self-issue pack policies:

Ci Self-issue Insurance also offer a self-issue pack. This includes all of the policy types offered in the CRM insurance Pack and also an option for commercial property risks. If you do not have a Ci Self-issue pack, please contact us and we will send as many as your firm requires.

Please note that the Ci Self-issue Insurance online portal offers more policy types than the Ci pack, including Forfeiture of Lease (Housing Act 1988), Freehold Rent Charge, Manorial Rights and Mineral Rights. Visit the Ci portal.

Can draft policies still be put on risk?

Yes, we will continue to accept CRM pack policies until 31st December 2022. We do ask that for new matters, Ci Self-issue Insurance policies (pack or online) are used where possible.

When will these changes take place?

All new bespoke quotes will now be issued by L&C. Please email enquiries@legal-contingency.co.uk with any requests. Requests for quotes sent to CRM insurance will be forwarded to L&C.

CRM insurance Self-Issue will continue to accept new quotes until 30th September 2022.

Will existing quotes be honoured?

Any quotes already issued will continue to be valid for their full stated validity period. Where an instruction is received to place cover on risk for valid CRM insurance quotes, the policy will be issued by CRM insurance.

If a quote has expired, or if significant changes are required, a new quote will be provided by L&C – we will ask for your permission prior to disclosing the existing underwriting file to L&C.

How will changes to existing policies work?
